Day Twenty-Five: MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Merry Christmas, everyone!!!

We've reached the end of the sixth year of Brennan's 25 Days of Ugly Christmas Apparel!! Can you believe it?! WOW!

We opened our presents last night, but this morning we got up and opened our stockings. We went to church and then went to my stepmom's parents' for lunch. Such good food! Now we're just hanging out and we will probably go to our grandma's house in a little bit to hang out there. Such a wonderful Christmas day! I'm so incredibly happy.

I hope you're having a splendid Christmas with your family as well! Let's get on to our FINAL post of the year!

YEAR SIX. DAY TWENTY-FIVE.

Yes, I'm aware that this one isn't the worst of the bunch. One lady at church said, "Oh, that's mild compared to what you wore last night!" That is very true. However,  I knew I wanted to have one that had the Nativity on it for today.

I almost ordered one that lit up, but it also had a penguin and reindeer on it. I wasn't sure how well that would have gone over, especially at church.

I just felt that it was super appropriate for today. I also paired it with my button-up shirt that had stars on it.

I also decided I didn't want to wear this outfit all day, so I changed into a leftover sweatshirt I got at Goodwill.

So today instead of one outrageous sweater, you get two mild ones. COOL. SORRY, KIDS. I STILL LOVE YOU THOUGH.

MOVIE OF THE DAY

I thought long and hard about what my favorite Christmas movie is, but I really don't think I have a favorite. However, The Grinch always sticks out in my mind as the perfect movie for the whole family. It's definitely on my list to watch every year.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY

I've said it before, but Amy Grant has my favorite Christmas music ever. She released a new Christmas album this year, and it's pretty good! Check it out.

THE END!

And just like that, we're done! Thank you to everyone who reads my blog each year. So many people tell me that they look forward to it all year and that they enjoy reading. I'm glad that you made me one of your Christmas traditions. You guys are the best! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas evening and a spectacular New Year!

Day Twenty-Four: Christmas Eve!

Hello, everyone!

This is the penultimate post of my blog this year! TOMORROW IS CHRISTMAS!!!

Today is also my dad's birthday. We all went out to breakfast as a family (sans my sister in Georgia who sadly couldn't make it home this year). We ate some good food, mapped out the next couple days, and I told a Sylvia Plath joke that went over everyone's head. Typical. We're going to have chocolate chip cookies this afternoon, at the candlelight service tonight, and then we are doing our immediate family Christmas later tonight. Busy day!

Also, shoutout to my idiot self who left his camera at work OVER CHRISTMAS WEEKEND. I'm so angry right now. Anway.

YEAR SIX. DAY TWENTY-FOUR.

What is this weather?! It's rainy and gross. I shouldn't have expected anything different though because I can't remember the last time we had a "white Christmas." Oh well. Nothing we can do about that!

This one might be the best one this year. My step-sister Hannah said, "Oh, that's horrible!"

The pearl beads and sequins give it an extra classy touch. Don't you agree?

GUEST SUBMISSION!

I hung out with Jennifer the other night and sh was so worried that the sweater she ordered wasn't going to make it in on time. It finally came in the mail yesterday, and she was able to wear it!

It reminds me of Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper from Blue's Clues back in the day! Haha!

It's perfect.

MOVIE OF THE DAY

So I didn't watch I'll Be Home For Christmas starring 90s hunk JTT growing up. In fact, I didn't watch it for the first time until yesterday. It's about a college student who is trying to get home for Christmas so his dad can give him a Porche, but he gets stranded in the desert. Strange, but just go with it.

I bought it for $5 at the mall a couple weeks ago and just sat down to watch it. What surprised me most about the movie was that it had a few adult jokes and situations that I didn't really expect from a PG movie. I mean....

Is it good? Oh not really. It's super cheesy and fun. I loved it. It's like the Disney version of a Hallmark Christmas movie.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY

Since it's dad's birthday, I asked him what his favorite Christmas music is. He told me that he enjoyed Bing Crosby, so that's today's music!

Day Twenty-Three: I'm a Sexy Elf

Hello friends! I'm pretty sure I included that gif in a blog post a year ago today, but it's the best time to use it!

We are almost there, and this blog is getting ready to wrap up for another year. How the time is really flying this year!

It's really been a great week. I've exchanged gifts with some friends this week and I am really excited to spend time with the family starting tonight.

YEAR SIX. DAY TWENTY-THREE

How great would it be if we had four arms?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Walmart has really upped their sweater game this year!! I found this one about a month or two ago, and I felt like it was completely necessary to get it for my blog this year.

It is a women's sweater (obviously... but most Christmas sweaters are...), so it's a snug fit. But it's still pretty great.

Also, it makes me feel like I'm like a sexier version of Zooey Deschanel's character from Elf.

Okay, maybe not really, but I really couldn't come up with a better comparison. Also, I not quite sure why the sexy elf lady has a dog, but whatever.

MOVIE OF THE DAY

Since I already mentioned Elf today, might as well make it today's movie! Normally, I'm not a huge Will Ferrell fan (please don't kill me!), but I do enjoy this movie... Probably because Zooey saves it for me.  She really is the best.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY

This year, Ivy Lynn Megan Hilty released a new Christmas album, and it's absolutely wonderful. Can Netflix please revive SMASH? (Yes, I will talk about SMASH until the day I die.)

Day Twenty-Two: M-I-C-K-E-Y....

...M-O-U-S-E!

Hello again, friends! We are rapidly approaching Christmas! Only 3 days away! I can hardly contain my excitement.

I'm also excited because I picked up the key to my new apartment last night and I get to start moving things in on Monday! I have a lot of good things happening in the next few weeks. I'm feeling incredibly thankful this year.

Also. Today has been really weird. So I'm just going to make this short and sweet.

YEAR SIX. DAY TWENTY-TWO

Mickey!! Because I'm such a huge Disney fan, I knew I needed to get a Disney Christmas sweater. I shopped around on the internet, and this is the one I enjoyed the most.

I mean, who doesn't love this mouse?! Also, this sweater is super comfortable.

When I ordered it, they accidentally sent me two, so I gave one to my step-sister. She loves it too!

Aren't we just the cutest?

P.S. There's an advantage of wearing a Santa hat two days in a row. I don't have to worry about my hair.

GUEST SUBMISSION!

You know who else has an awesome Mickey Christmas sweater? JAXON!

His mom Kirbie texted me this picture last week as he was getting ready for his Christmas program! What an awesome guy!

MOVIE OF THE DAY

While we're on the Mickey kick, today's movie is Mickey's Christmas Carol. I had a VHS copy of this growing up... Although I can't remember if it was recorded from TV like a lot of our programs were or if we had a real copy. I remember being a little creeped out from the movie, but on the whole, I loved it because like I said before... Who doesn't love Mickey and the gang??

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY

I found this Disney playlist on Spotify. It's kind of cheesy, but it's fun.

Day Twenty-One: Plastic Christmas

Yesterday's Gilmore Girls sweatshirt seemed to be a hit! I got a lot of compliments on it. I did have to explain it to a few people who had never seen it. (What is the Gilmore version of a muggle?) I was very pleased with it.

Today's sweater is another themed sweater. I didn't mean to have two in a row, but it just happened that way! This time, it's a different type of "Girls." It's another one of my favorites, and I'm thrilled to show you!

YEAR SIX. DAY TWENTY-ONE.

If you know me, you know that one of my favorite movies is Mean Girls. This sweater is a play on one of the most famous quotes...

I saved this sweater specifically for the Wednesday before Christmas! It just seemed to make sense, you know!

I look so very awkward in these photos. I do apologize. I was trying to get the "mean girl" pose down, but I couldn't do it in a convincing way. I really want to lose 3 pounds.

While Mean Girls isn't technically a Christmas movie, it does have a Christmas sequence. I will always associate "Jingle Bell Rock" with this movie.

Here's a close up of the sweater...

It's SO fetch! Except, I'm not really sure why Santa is wearing a cowboy hat. It doesn't quite make sense to me... He is cute though!

GUEST SUBMISSION!

Melanie, who wore that Christmas tree dress yesterday, sent me another picture of her office's Christmas party! Everyone looks so grool!

MOVIE OF THE DAY

Lacey Chabert (who played Gretchen in Mean Girls) has been in approximately 387 Christmas movies. Take. Your. Pick.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY

Since "Jingle Bell Rock" is stuck in my head, let's just listen to some classic Christmas by Brenda Lee.
