Year Three: Day Seven!

Happy Saturday, folks! Let's just cut right to the chase, shall we?

DAY SEVEN:
Ok, first off... What is going on with my hair? Anyway.

I picked this one specifically because it was supposed to be Santa Day at the college, and I was asked to take pictures... However, due to the roads being bad and the parking lot is atrocious, it was cancelled. So I got another free day! Hooray!

Can we just take a moment and appreciate these adorable Santas?
The white fluff ball at the end of their hat (Crafting people! What are those things called?) give it a nice 3D effect. It's pretty cool. Only one of them isn't located in the best of places... but it's alright.

SO MANY PRESENTS. ALL OF THEM.

LOL, BRB

And this is my favorite part of the sweater:
Twinkle, twinkle, little me!
It's sad that I don't get to wear this sweater to meet Santa now... Boo. I was hoping to get my picture with him and tell him what I wanted for Christmas!!!... Oh well...

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

Let's take time today to appreciate the LEGEND that is Julie Andrews. No one can compare to her. NO ONE. If you haven't heard her album Christmas with Julie Andrews, you really are missing out.

Also, this music suggestion is not intended to throw shade at the NBC's Sound of Music Live that aired the other night. Just FYI. We can talk about that at another time.

Year Three: Day Six!!!

SNOW DAY!!! Since we're in the middle of a blizzard, and I work at a college, I don't have to go to work today!!! On the downside.... I only work part time and I don't get paid today... Rude. I'll make up my hours next week though.

DAY SIX:

Okay, so I apologize that today's isn't that ugly or tacky... But it is ridiculously comfy, and it's perfect for lounging in on my day off. Papa Tracy said that he really liked it!

Did you know that the Man in the Moon is actually Santa?! It's true. It says so on my sweatshirt.

Now... come to think of it... I think this sweatshirt is actually pajamas. I don't know. The tag was ripped out when I purchased it. Haha.

If you were disappointed in today's post... Well, stop being a Grinch... and know that there are some great ones left to come! It's only day 6! We have 19 days left until Christmas!

FIRST GUEST SUBMISSION!

Even though the snow doesn't show signs of stoppin' here... Elsewhere, the temperature isn't quite as cold. My friend Alyssa who lives in Virginia says the temperature is in the 60s. A bit warm for sweater weather, so she's rocking her ugly sweater t-shirt! Lookin' good, girl!

If you have any pictures you'd like to share on my blog, just email them to me! brennansethtracy@gmail.com

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

If you don't thoroughly enjoy some Michael BublĂ© Christmas music, then I think you're weird. Just a personal opinion. The Let it Snow! EP came out in 2003 and the full-length album Christmas came out in 2011 and was basically in instant classic. My favorite track is "Cold December Night," and his version of "Santa Baby" really makes me chuckle. But really, I do love all the tracks on both of these. With the snow today, this music playing, and a cup of hot chocolate, I am incredibly happy.

Year Three: Day Five!

Does anyone hate going to the post office as much as I do? I had to go on the way to work this morning. Definitely not a pleasant experience. However, with ugly Christmas apparel and a smile, I tried to spread the holiday joy!

DAY FIVE:
Let's be honest. You can't get much better than a hand-painted sweatshirt. Especially if there is plastic gems and glitter paint! MAGICAL!

Please ignore the fact that I look really awkward in this photo. But, it goes along with the theme of this blog... So never mind. Whatever.

Just look at that detail! It must a have taken a lot of time to paint this shirt... I'm impressed. I definitely don't have the time or patience to make such a masterpiece. I'm excited it's in my collection this year!

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

Is anyone here a fan of the show The O.C.? I've seen several episodes, but I never got that into it. I do have 3 of the 4 seasons on DVD, but I haven't actually gotten around to watching them. However, I do really enjoy the music from the show. One of my suite-mates in college gave me all the soundtracks. Music From The O.C.: Mix 3 - Have a Very Merry Chrismukkah has some great holiday music. My favorite tracks are the first two on the album: "The Christmas Song" by The Ravonettes and "Last Christmas" by Jimmy Eat World. The others are pretty good too. Check 'em out!

Year Three: Day Four!

It's hump day, y'all! It's been a kind of crazy morning over here! Hope everyone is keeping calm. End of the semester is rapidly approaching, and the college where I work is kinda stressed out.  So, let's take a brief break and have a little bit of Christmas cheer!

DAY FOUR:

This sweater is a bit itchy, I'm not gonna lie. And there are few small, questionable stains... I'm just going to pretend they don't exist and take a shower when I get home.  This sweater reminds me of like a Tic Tac Toe board or a Bingo board or something. I can't place my finger on it... What does it remind you of?

Awkward wreath. I don't even know.

Awkward Angel.

Bow.

So. Yeah. That's about it. I don't really have much else to say today. I should probably get back to work.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

You know you LOVE Mariah Carey's 1994 album Merry Christmas. Don't even try to pretend that "All I Want For Christmas Is You" isn't your Christmas JAM. I know it is. You can't fool me.

Year Three: Day Three

Hellooooooooo!! How's your Tuesday morning? Are you turning into an achy old man like I am?

I really don't have much interesting to say this morning... Except for the fact I called my parents Grinches this morning. Why? Because they said a 9+ foot Christmas tree is too large for our house. This is a falsehood. I am totally willing to sacrifice our living room for a month in order to get a 12 ft tree. Why are they trying to ruin Christmas by killing my hopes and dreams?? Anyway. Let's get to the real reason you're visiting my blog, shall we?

DAY THREE:

First off, I'm firing my family as my official photographers. Anyone want to come over every morning and take pictures of me? If not, I guess I could drag out my tripod and set up my timer... But that takes time and effort. BUT. I guess it's worth it to continue my blog!

ANYWAY. Christmas sweater vests are the best. Don't you agree? You still get all the tacky, but it's more comfortable that a regular sweater. Especially if the sweater is too small... But I'm probably the only one who has that problem. I take what I can get.

So there we have it! Today's sweater. It's a classic. But it doesn't like to stay buttoned. Oh well.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

As you know, Britney Spears' new album came out today. And you KNOW I'll be jamming to that all day... But for those of you who don't want to listen to such things, here is a fantastic album that's on the opposite side of the spectrum. (Did that make sense? As I was typing, it sounded weird in my head. I don't even know. I'll roll with it.)

Enya's 2008 album And Winter Came... is such a mesmerizing album. I'm in love with it. Her version of the advent carol "O Come O Come Emmanuel" is one of my favorite tracks. This album is so different from all the typical holiday albums, and it's really quite refreshing. Check it out!

Year Three: Day Two!

Good morning, folks! I hope your first Monday back to work or school after the Thanksgiving break isn't too terrible... I definitely didn't sleep well, so I didn't want to get up and move this morning. BUT. I made it to work. How's your day so far?

I've already had interesting comments on today's sweater, so here we go!

DAY TWO:

As soon as my step-mom saw this, the first words out of her mouth were "Oh... That's so bad. It's gross." Well, it only gets worse from here!

This is a cheap sweatshirt that someone hand embroidered... Is that the correct term? Someone with more knowledge of the crafting world please confirm or deny. Anyway. It's a beauty, and I don't know why someone would part with such a treasure. Oh that's right. It's kind of atrocious. Luckily I was there to save it from hanging on the Goodwill rack year after year.

It's a bit snug, and I already want to rip off the collar because it's kind of choking me. Hopefully I can make it through the day without taking it off or attacking it with scissors. A student at the college I work at said it made me look more muscular. I told him to stop lying to me.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:

Here is another EP of Christmas tunes that will help you get into the holiday spirit! Matthew Morrison's A Classic Christmas came out about 2 weeks ago, and I think it's pretty great. It has 6 tracks of Christmas tunes in the more traditional style. Check it out! It's really good. Also. Someone please get this man off of Glee and back on Broadway. Like 2 years ago. Thanks.

Year Three: Day One!

I'm baaaaaack!!! I am SO excited to be back for year 3! It feels like my favorite television show has been renewed!!! (Which is unfortunately not the case... R.I.P. SMASH.) Your favorite part of the holiday season (besides Jesus and family...) is HERE!

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who is a fan of this blog for keeping it going! Without you, I'd just be that weird kid who wore a bunch of Christmas sweaters his senior year of college that everyone made fun of... Which is probably still the case, but at least my humor is somewhat appreciated. :)

I'm really pumped about my batch of NEW sweaters this year. I have 25 brand-new (relatively speaking) sweaters to share with everyone!! No repeats from the last two years, and nothing purchased from Walmart or similar stores. These are all outfits I purchased from thrift shops and Goodwill. Let me tell ya... There are quite a few gems in my stash. I was looking at pictures from last year... And trust me. This year will be BETTER! Hooray!!

 So... With out further ado...

DAY ONE!

I already have a humorous story about this one. I had to lead music at church this morning, so I figured I'd dress it up a little bit by adding a bow tie.  Now as you know, adding a bow tie instantly makes your outfit 15 times sexier. It's a proven fact. It's science. SO... I kept getting compliments. I was told I looked "so cute" and "dashing" and "handsome." Not quite what I was going for... But I'll take it!!!

As soon as I saw this sweater, I instantly thought of the musical Forever Plaid. Not that the show is a Christmas musical, just you know... plaid... You see my train of thought here. Theatre nerd. Anyway. Plaid Christmas trees are kind of awesome!

This sweater isn't *that* bad... But let's remember that this blog is designed to start of somewhat mild and to build our way to extremely tacky by the time we get to Christmas Day. I'm so excited.

SOUNDTRACK OF THE DAY:
In addition to adorable pictures of me every day, I'm starting a new segment to my posts. I'm going to post a Christmas album that I'm listening to. It will be a different one each day. It's merely a suggestion, but it's another way I can share my favorite part of the holiday season. If you feel so inclined, you can go find the music on iTunes/Spotify/Google Play/YouTube/however you get your music. Then you can hear it and know that I'm listening to the same thing, and we can feel all warm and snuggly together. How precious!

For today's album, I chose Emmy Rossums' Carol of the Bells (2007).  It's only a 3 track EP, so if you find yourself needing to ease into the Christmas tunes, this is a good start! I've been a big fan of Rossum for a long time. She's an actress (Phantom of the Opera, HBO's Shameless) and she has a killer voice. Her version of "Carol of the Bells" is one of my all-time favorites. If you like her stuff, check out her other full-length albums: Inside Out (2007) and A Sentimental Journey (2012).

A while back, I asked some friends if I should have a fancy official hashtag and what it should be... And the majority vote was #SweaterSwag. So, while it's not my favorite, it's what we're gonna roll with! But, I also came up with one of my own. So, if you share this blog on the social media, be sure to use the hashtags #Brennans25Days and #SweaterSwag.

Also, I want to see your Ugly Christmas Apparel too!! If you have any pictures you want to share, email them to me, and I'll put them on my blog! Also, if you have any suggestions, I'm open to those too! Just shoot me an email as well.

I'm also considering doing some sort of Q&A sometime this month, so send me your questions as well! Links are posted below.

So that's it for today! I hope everyone's December is of to an amazing start. It's crazy that it's the end of the year! 2013, where did you go?!

Remember to check back every day!

Stay tacky,

Brennan
